Whether you’re looking for inspiration or want to fill your Instagram feed with more quality work, and specifically from women photographers, you’ve come to the right place.

For International Women’s Day, Amy Davies shared her suggested list of the 10 women photographers you should follow. Following on from its success, I’ve put together a list of street photographers you should take a look at!

Of course, there are the greats that everyone should take a look at – Vivian Maier and Helen Levitt, with Dorothea Lange and Diane Arbus’s work also venturing into the world of street photography – through portraits and documentary. This list however shares the incredible work of contemporary female photographers taking to the streets today. It’s not an exhaustive list, so if you’ve got any suggestions let us know.

Dawn Eagleton

Dawn Eagleton is a British street photographer, now based in Ibiza, who focuses on capturing people in authentic and unguarded moments. Her debut book Through the Glass is a collection of her candid street portraits taken between 2018-2025.

Linda Wisdom

London-based Linda specialises in street, urban city and lifestyle photography. Her work has been widely exhibited and received awards, including from the British Life Photography Awards. She also runs regular workshops and tours in London and around Europe.

Mavis CW

Mavis CW is a British-Taiwanese photographer based in London, UK. Her work captures the ebb and flow of daily life, using the streets as an ever-changing canvas. Through her lens, fleeting moments are preserved, transforming everyday scenes into timeless narratives. She recently won AP’s UK Film Photographer of the Year competition with a fantastic portfolio of London street images. You can read my interview with her here.

Sarah van Rij

Dutch photographer Sarah van Rij has an incredible eye for detail, framing and contrast. With influence from cinema and painting, she has developed a clear visual style that is unique in both composition and narrative.

Monaris (Paola Franqui)

Monaris is a Puerto Rican photographer, visual storyteller, and Sony Alpha ambassador based in New Jersey. Known for her cinematic eye and emotionally resonant work, she brings a sense of timelessness and intention to everything she captures.

Lucy Hamidzadeh

Lucy’s street photography can be summarised as miniature moments and stolen glances. Her feed is a collection of memories, frozen in time and held onto.

Monica Murillo

In her street photography, Monica is attracted to colours, lights, shadows, gestures, small stories and especially, life behind glass. Whether clean, dirty, translucent or wet, she captures moments in all their modalities.

Melissa Breyer

Inspired by the non-fiction and fiction crossover of candid photography, Melissa Breyer’s photography captures the fleeting moments of chaotic urban life.

Valérie SIX

Valérie SIX is a French photographer that aims to shed light on scenes we would consider ordinary. Her compositions are carefully crafted and often feature bold colour and striking contrast.

Melissa O’Shaughnessy

Now based in New York City, Melissa captures fleeting, humorous, and human-centered moments with a delicate visual quality. Her work has featured in numerous publications and exhibitions, including at International Center of Photography.

Clarissa Bonet

Clarissa Bonet is a Chicago based artist whose work explores issues of urban space in both a physical and psychological context. Urban landscapes are both the background and feature in her work, with people added for contrast and exploring how they interact with these spaces.

Jane Zhang

Seeking to find the magic of everyday life, Jane’s journey started in the streets of Melbourne. In her work she captures the beauty of seemingly ordinary people and places.

Nina Welch-Kling

Nina Welch-Kling explores New York City with open eyes, alert for moments of spontaneity where people, weather and architecture converge. She isolates chaotic and character-filled moments to create minimal and focused compositions.

Bonus: Dimpy Bhalotia

Mentioned also in our top 10 female photographers to follow list, I can’t not give a mention to Dimpy Bhalotia. Founder of the Pure Street Photography collective, her street photography is stunning and much of it is taken using smartphones.
