RIP the DSLR – These are the last Digital SLRs still left for sale
I'm sorry, but the DSLR really is on its last legs as there are now only seven Digital SLRs still left for sale…

If you’re a die-hard DSLR fan and haven’t made the switch to mirrorless, then you might want to think about whether you’ll still be able to buy a new DSLR if yours breaks.
DSLRs remain extremely popular, often with good reason, thanks to an optical viewfinder (still preferred by many), excellent battery life, and perhaps most importantly a vast range of lenses. And if you’re someone who owns a range of DSLR lenses, then it doesn’t always make sense to switch to mirrorless.
However, you might need to be quick, as our expert camera tracker at AP has checked every UK retailer and manufacturer website and discovered there are only 7 models left to buy new in the UK, with only 2 from Canon, 3 from Nikon, and 2 from Pentax / Ricoh. You’ll struggle to find the Canon EOS 250D, the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III, and the Pentax K-3 Mark III (and Monochrome version), as these disappear from retailers shelves (and websites).
DSLR cameras you can buy include these models:
- Canon EOS 2000D / Rebel T7 – APS-C (24MP)
- Canon EOS 5D Mark IV – Full-frame (30MP)
- Nikon D780 – Full-frame (24MP)
- Nikon D850 – Full-frame (45MP)
- Nikon D6 – Full-frame (20MP)
- Pentax KF – APS-C (24MP)
- Pentax K-1 II – Full-frame (36MP)
Don’t worry though, if you can’t afford to buy one of these new, as retailers are happy to step in and sell you a second-hand model, often with a long warranty, long after the original warranty has expired. So, check out retailers like MPB, Park Cameras, WEX, Wilkinson Cameras, LCE, Camera World, and others to see what stock they have.
In fact, the last new DSLR was released around 6 years ago (outside of Pentax), so the range of used DSLRs means that you could save a serious amount of money by buying second-hand, without having to compromise on choice. For example, the cameras listed above are all available second-hand from MPB. Check out our guide to buying second-hand lenses too.
