Nikon has announced an advisory notice regarding a manufacturing issue with three of its cameras – the Nikon ZR, N6 III and Z5 II – Nikon’s latest full-frame mirrorless cameras. Nikon say they will repair – for free – any models affected, whether the camera is still in warranty or not, although chances are, that it will still be in warranty as these are all new models. Don’t worry though, they also provide a website where you can check if your model has the issue, as it appears only on certain batches of the cameras. Nikon say they will also cover shipping costs.
Here’s what Nikon said about the issue: “We have learned that certain Z6III, Z5II, and ZR cameras were manufactured using parts that do not meet our quality standards, and this may cause the cameras to become inoperable. We have identified the range of serial numbers for the affected Z6III, Z5II, and ZR camera units, and would like to inform customers of our response to this issue.
For those who have already purchased an affected Z6III, Z5II, or ZR camera, and would like to have their camera serviced to correct this issue, Nikon will provide repairs, including necessary parts replacement, free of charge even if the warranty period has expired. Nikon will also cover the cost of shipping affected Z6III, Z5II, or ZR cameras to and from our service centers.”
To check your camera – visit this link (USA) or this link (Europe), and click the “Affected Product Serial Numbers” link and enter your serial number, which can be found on the back of the camera, under the screen. Via dpreview.
