Tripod, bag and accessory maker Vanguard has introduced the new Alta Sky AirZero – a truly revolutionary bag made from 1680D Ballistic NyLITE material, filled with the lightest Grade 6 Helium-3 (3He).
The 1680D Ballistic NyLITE material is just 5.845mm thick with a titanium frame that ensures that the bag can cope with the rigours of the outdoors, backed up with exceptional rip, abrasion and weather resistance.
The science bit
The material is designed to contain the rarest Grade 6 Helium-3 (3He) atoms which measure just 0.2 nanometres. This ultra-light helium option offsets the limited weight of the 1680D Ballistic NyLITE material, frame and harness, ensuring that the Alta Sky AirZero 42 weighs -1.04g. So it is literally lighter than air.
Furthermore, as the 1680D Ballistic NyLITE material is transparent, the Alta Sky AirZero includes an orange and grey 0.14mm thick 1400D rip-stop inner lining. This hides the valuable contents, while adding colour and style.
‘The new Alta Sky AirZERO is a gamechanger, and popping those bubbles is a perfect stress reliever,’ said Vanguard pro and influencer, Peparazzi-NL (above) ‘Though I go all squeaky when I do.’
Such innovation doesn’t come cheap however and the Alta Sky AirZERO 42, which kicks off the new series, will set you back a far-from-lightweight $1,420.26/£1,420.26.
Check it out in your local authorised Vanguard dealer or find out more information here. If you buy before 30th June you will also get a free AltaPouch worth £15.
