Leica has announced the Q3 Monochrom, the second black & white-only camera in the company’s Q range. As with Leica’s previous mono cameras, the colour Bayer filter is removed from the sensor. Instead it features a 60MP monochrome sensor, and captures images at resolutions of 60MP, 36MP and 18MP across an ISO range from 100 to 200,000. As with the standard Leica Q3, the new Leica camera has a fixed Summilux 28 f/1.7 ASPH lens and records video with up to 8K resolution.

The Leica Q3 Monochrom also features a refreshed user interface, with colour coding used to separate photo and video functions. Leica said it will introduce this new operating concept for Q-cameras to both the Leica Q3 and the Leica Q3 43 through a firmware update at the end of the year. The Q3 Monochrom is also the first Q-series camera to enable users to add a digital signature compliant with the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), ensuring the tamper-proof verification of photographs.

As you’d expect from Leica, the Q3 Monochrom is a handsome-looking camera; the all-metal body and lens hood are finished in black, with engravings – such as the ‘Monochrom’ lettering on the top plate – rendered in black or grey. The absence of the iconic red Leica dot also accentuates the camera’s minimalist design. Accessories include a handgrip with wireless charging and a coordinated leatherette covering, a red filter, and a selection of carrying straps.

The Leica Q3 Monochrom will be available worldwide from the 20th of November 2025 at Leica Stores, in the Leica Online Store and from authorised dealers. The recommended retail price is £5,800.00 / €6,750.00 / $7,790.00 including VAT.
