RewindPix adds the one thing that’s seriously missing from modern compacts

You may have heard of CampSnap cameras – a screen free point and shoot camera designed to be back to basics. Rewindpix has joined the party, and is designed to give photographers additional features and controls, including a large optical viewfinder, replaceable shutter button, 43mm filter thread, and customisable film simulations. Thanks to a Wi-Fi connection and app, film simulations can be adjusted on your phone to give your images a unique look.

Rewindpix at a glance:

  • 13MP Sony sensor
  • 4 glass, 2 plastic element lens, f/2.2 aperture
  • 0.78x magnification optical viewfinder
  • Xenon flash
  • Screen free operation

Rewindpix has launched on Kickstarter with the “early bird” camera available for $109 (roughly £82) with cameras expected to ship in June 2026. This makes it much cheaper than most new compact cameras from the main brands, such as Fujifilm, Sony, Canon, and Panasonic, and very few of these have a viewfinder outside of the gorgeous (but expensive) Fujifilm X100VI. Cheaper compacts are available from brands like Kodak, but these don’t include a viewfinder.
