Sony World Photography Awards recently revealed Joel Meyerowitz as the recipient of the prestigious Outstanding Contribution to Photography title which honours the people that have shaped the history of the medium. On 21 April, Meyerowitz will be live in conversation at Logan Hall, London. The pioneer of colour and street photography icon will delve into his six-decade career and share his most memorable moments and insights.
Recognised by Sony World Photography Awards for his diverse and expansive body of work, a special retrospective exhibition of Meyerowitz’s work will be on display at Somerset House in 2026 as part of the Sony World Photography Awards competition exhibition. Joel Meyerowitz is an award-winning photographer whose work has appeared in over 350 exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world. Celebrated as a pioneer of colour photography, he is a two-time Guggenheim Fellow, a recipient of both National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities awards, and a recipient of The Royal Photographic Society’s Centenary Medal. He has published 57 books. Joel Meyerowitz is represented by Howard Greenberg Gallery in New York, Polka Galerie in Paris and Huxley-Parlour Gallery in London. He lives and works in New York and in London.
The talk will be moderated by John Wilson, a journalist and broadcaster who has specialised in arts and cultural affairs for over 25 years. He presents This Cultural Life, the Radio 4 podcast series on which guests have included some of the world’s most important creative figures.
